police vehicles sold (786A/23)

Specifically, I am requesting details of all used police vehicles sold by West Midlands Police over the past five years. The details I would like are as follows:
1. Vehicle registration number
2. Vehicle model
3. The date of sale
4. The mileage of the vehicle at the time of sale
5. The date of the vehicle’s last MOT prior to sale
6. The price at which the vehicle was sold
7. Whether the sale was made privately, through an auction, or trade

In relation to Question 1, We can confirm that some relevant information is held by West Midlands Police. But we are not required to release all of the information requested due to the following exemption:
Section 40 (2) Personal data

Section 40 (2) allows for personal data to be withheld where release would breach the third party’s data protection rights.
We do not publish registration numbers of our vehicles and once one of our vehicles are sold at auction, the registration number of the car is no longer our data, it belongs to the person who has purchased the car. It would be unfair to release this information where any person could be identified from the data and in this case the right to privacy outweighs any public interest in release.
