Thefts from Construction Sites (1006A/22)

- I am wondering if you collect data for any thefts from construction sites that are reported?
- I would be interested to see 2021 yearly stats verses this years (2022) current total.
- To cover West and East Midlands please, separated into each region, per year as noted above if possible
- If they are then sub-categorise in terms of tools, fuel or machines or any other headings this would also be helpful and if you can split into the different elements are per above points.

In relation to questions 1 and 2, please find our response attached.
In relation to question 3, we do not hold information for the East Midlands area, therefore you will need to send a separate FOI request to the relevant police forces to obtain this information.
In relation to question 4, our crime recording database does not have the facility to search for and retrieve recording fields that denote property stolen. However, due to the number of records retrieved, I have manually reviewed the MO notes to identify if any stolen property has been mentioned, and have made note of this in tables 2 and 3 on the attached document.

However, it is important to note that these data have been extracted from a number of data sources used by forces for police purposes. The detail collected to respond specifically to your request is subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large scale recording system. As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes and their inevitable limitations are taken into account when interpreting those data.
The figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of relevance of data to your request, but you should be aware that the collation of figures for ad hoc requests may have limitations and this should be taken into account when those data are used.
