Street racing (325A/25)

Many Villagers have had to make numerous reports in regards to car meets and the racing around firefly road and the local area.

Reports were made to Warwickshire but I am aware that some have gone through to WM from people just outside Baginton and over the Border in Coventry, as these meets/races occur on and over into Warwickshire and West Midlands both Forces receive calls. At our next Council meeting, I will be speaking about the incidents in general though mostly about the fatal one, my aim is to give the Councillors a good picture of how bad it is by showing how many reports have been placed over the last 12 months.

Could I ask for how many reports of these incidents you have received over the past 12 months. I require no information other than how many reports, whether that be online or via telephone you have received.

Please find enclosed our response.

Please note:

When a member of the public phones the Police, it is initially recorded as:

ROC (record of contact): Where information has been received and Police need no further involvement or action. For example: There will be a road closed on XXXX. Police do not attend a ROC.

Incident: An incident is created where Police involvement is required. Incident: An incident is created where Police involvement is required.  If a crime is identified from that incident then a crime is created for the relevant offence. Not all incidents have a crime created.

Recorded Crimes: These are created from an incident above and are crimes that require recording / investigating

There were none specifically related to “Baginton” area.

For Coventry Neighbourhood Policing area or Firefly Road Coventry

Type Total
Incident 88
Roc 23
Grand Total 111

Please note that these data should be interpreted with caution. Comparing numbers of incidents/crimes can be misleading and does not necessarily indicate the likelihood of someone being a victim of crime. In addition, the number of incidents/crimes recorded in an area over a period of time can be influenced by a number of factors. Consequently, statistics on incidents/crimes for one period may not necessarily be a good indicator of future incidents in that area.

Every effort is made to ensure that the figures presented are accurate and complete. However, it is important to note that these data have been extracted from a number of data sources used by forces for police purposes. The detail collected to respond specifically to your request is subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large-scale recording system. As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes and their inevitable limitations are considered when interpreting those data.

The figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of relevance of data to your request, but you should be aware that the collation of figures for ad hoc requests may have limitations and this should be considered when those data are used.

If you decide to write an article / use the enclosed data we would ask you to take into consideration the factors highlighted in this document so as to not mislead members of the public or official bodies, or misrepresent the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.
