I would like to request a current (or as recent as possible) fleet list of vehicles with the following information
The separation of marked and unmarked resources should mean there is no security concerns. If there is any individual piece of information that is going to be too costly to retrieve, please provide an explanation and exclude the single piece of information.
Vehicle Fleet information of Marked Resources

– Callsign/Roof Numbers (ie; TD-19 OR F 01)

Please be advised that the information that you have requested is not available in a readily retrievable format.
In relation to the initial cost of a vehicle purchased, we do not have a central recording category that would identify this. We would need to locate and retrieve each invoice to see when the vehicle was purchased and find its cost, to complete this for each vehicle within the fleet would exceed the cost threshold under FOI. We might be able to provide an overall vehicle cost per year – for all vehicles, if this is useful please come back to us.
Therefore, the cost of providing you with the information is above the amount to which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of locating and retrieving the information exceeds the ‘appropriate level’ as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts as a Refusal Notice for this part of the request and if one part of a request exceeds the fees limit then S12 of the Act applies to the whole request

This includes some unmarked vehicles which are in general use by West Midlands Police but it does not include any VRMs, covert vehicles, or those marked/un-marked vehicles used in a specialist capacity, this is because this type of information is exempt from disclosure by virtue of Section 31 – Law Enforcement.

In relation to Call signs, please be advised that these are assigned to officers rather than vehicles, and this information is exempt by Virtue of Section 31 – Law Enforcement.
