I would like to know if your police force has used facial recognition software in the last year, when and for what reasons.
We clarified with you on 13th March 2023 and you replied on 14th April 2023:
In terms of times, I meant from 01 Jan 2022 to 31 December 2022, but please also include in 2023 too.
In terms of facial recognition software, I’d like to know if live, overt facial recognition software has been used. So that would refer to an external deployment of software that isn’t simply the database to which all forces have access.

No information held. West Midlands Police currently does not use live facial recognition for the date range specified above.
As recommended as good practice by the Information Commissioner’s Office a version of this response may be published on the West Midlands Police website.
