Drug drive blood urine samples (1285A/21)

Request

a) How many suspected drug drive blood or urine samples were sent for forensic analysis by your force over the last 3 years?

b) Of that figure, how many results if any, were returned six months after of the arrest date?

c) What was the average length of time for results to be returned in the last 3 years?

Response

a) Please see as follows:

01/01/19-31/12/19 = 368

01/01/20-31/12/20 = 413

01/01/21-07/09/21 = 134

b) Please be advised that the force do not hold this information as we don’t record the arrest date to be able to determine if the samples were returned within 6 months of arrest. The original card (MGDD) detailing this information is sent to the FSP and not retained in force.

c) This information is not held
