Request
My request concerns police records of domestic abuse in the years 2019, 2020 and 2021. I want the figures, please, for January-May of those years for:
1) Number of calls to the police reporting an incident of domestic abuse
2) Number of arrests and charges relating to domestic abuse
3) Number of prosecutions for domestic abuse
4) Number of homicides flagged as being related to domestic abuse

Our data are not organised in such a way as to allow us to provide all of this information within the appropriate (cost) limit within the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act (see ‘Reason for Decision’ below).
However, although excess cost removes the force’s obligations under the Freedom of Information Act, as a gesture of goodwill I have supplied information, relative to your request, retrieved before it was realised that the fees limit would be exceeded (see attached file 901A_21_attachment.pdf). I trust this is helpful, but it does not affect our legal right to rely on the fees regulations for the remainder of the request.

The detail collected to respond specifically to your request is subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large scale recording system. The figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of relevance of data to your request, but you should be aware that the collation of figures for ad hoc requests may have limitations and this should be taken into account when those data are used.
