Response

In order to assist you, I can tell you that West Midlands Police holds the following information which may be of interest. Please let me know, if any, of this information would satisfy your request:

On our FOI publication website you will find a lot of your answers. The link to this is at the end of this email.

Q1: Look at 140A/20 and 1287A/21 on our FOI website this information is already published

Q2: This is the same question as Q1?  Do you mean something different?  Please re word if you require different information

Q3: data for 2020 is on 1287A/21;

2016/2017,2018

data is on 2145A/20

Q4: 2018 data is on 750A/19;

Q5: data for 2020 is on 1287A/21

Q6: Location ? Do you mean address  / area or do you mean from street, garden car etc 750A/19 = 2018 data, 1277A/20 has data for 2018/2019 and 2020

May I suggest that you do some research on our FOI site and search for “dog thefts” and “stolen dogs”.  The majority of the information is already published.  Then re word your request with any data that you require that you cannot locate. The ones I have detailed above are some of many that have been published.

For Further:

There were no dogs recorded as having been recovered in the calendar years 2016 and 2020.

It is important to note we are aware our “Status” field is inaccurate, so whilst they are recorded as stolen, information should be interpreted with caution as at times a dog may have been recovered at a later date, however the record is not always updated.

For example an officer attend the scene of a reported stolen dog and then records the crime accordingly.  Then the dog is found 8 months later, the dog would get reunited, however the crime is not then updated.
