Facial Recognition (1146A/22)
I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from West Midlands Police. For the purposes of clarity, please take ‘facial recognition’ to mean any automated means of comparing a live or retrospective image against a database to discern potential identity, and ‘trial’ to mean any use on the public or internally for testing purposes.

Use of Force (1124A/22)
– The breakdown of use of force incidents by Police officers, per year from 2012 to 2015 (if possible). Can the same information also be shared for the years 2018 to 2021.
Image Based Abuse (1100A/22)
1. The numbers of reported incidents, charges and convictions for offences related to image-based abuse (Section 33 of the Criminal Justice and Court Act 2015) across different regions of the UK.
2. The training on online and technology facilitated abuse, including but not limited to image-based abuse, received by officers and frontline staff across UK police forces within the past 5 years.
Speeding (1113A/22)
1) Please provide the amount of speeding offences caught by camera van in the Birmingham area from July 2021 to present day?
2) How many of these have resulted in a speed awareness course?
Gun Confiscations (1067A/22)
I was wondering if you could provide me with the following information regarding gun confiscations, recoveries and those handed in by amnesty or other made by your force between 2021 – 2022.
1) Please may you provide the number of guns, ammunition and any other live ammunition weapons such as grenades that you took off the streets between August 2021 – August 2022.
2) Please may you provide the types of weapons recovered – were they pistols, automatics, semi automatics.
