– For example, in 2021, 12 individuals were placed in custody under section 136. 10 individuals had an ethnic appearance of white British, 1 self-defined as Black British etc.

Please note: if for data protection reasons you are unable to provide the figures broken down by year, please collate the figures over the three-year period.

I.e. between 2021 and 2023, 34 individuals were placed in police custody after being detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983, 31 individuals were white etc
