Officers with Neurodiversity conditions (222A/23)
Request
I am asking for the following data in the chart below along with the supplementary questions below. I am seeking information for my dissertation project. I am defining neurodiversity conditions as; Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, and Tourette’s syndrome. No personally identifiable data is requested, just statistics on the number of officers who have these conditions.
Time Frame | Number of officer applicants in total. | Number of officer applicants disclosing neurodiversity conditions | Number of officer applicants recruited in total | Number of officer applicants with disclosed neuro diversity conditions recruited. |

1) Number of police officers in the force currently with disclosed neurodiversity conditions?
2) What adjustments are available to support police officers with neurodiversity conditions?
Response
Our data are not organised in such a way as to allow us to provide this information within the appropriate (cost) limit within the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act (see ‘Reason for Decision’ below).
We do not hold the data around applicants disclosing neurodiversity conditions, in a retrievable format. Manually checking applications would exceed the 18-hour time limit.
Excess of 2000 applications x 10 mins = 333 hours
Although excess cost removes the force’s obligations under the Freedom of Information Act, as a gesture of goodwill I have supplied information, relative to your request, retrieved before it was realised that the fees limit would be exceeded (see enclosed). I trust this is helpful, but it does not affect our legal right to rely on the fee’s regulations for the remainder of the request.
