- How many drivers have you prosecuted for speeding in each of these years; 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 so far.
- How many drivers have appealed against their prosecution for speeding?
- How many drivers have been successful in appealing against the speeding prosecution?
- How many of all appeals have been because the driver had evidence that the Notice of Intended Prosecution and/or prosecutor was using an incorrect speed limit in detailing the nature of the alleged offence?
- How many of these appeals because of the use of incorrect speed limits were successful?
- Can I please have a copy of your enforcement policy regarding speeding offences?

With regard to questions 2 – 5, this information would be held by the courts (HMCTs), therefore you may wish to submit a request for this directly to them to see if they can assist.

*These figures only refer to single offences (i.e. if speeding is one of many offences, the ticket is forwarded straight for prosecution and we do not have a record – the tickets would have to be checked manually, which would exceed the 18 hour time limit).
With regard to question 6, no specific recorded information is held. West Midlands Police does not have a specific speed enforcement policy; the force abides by DFT, NPCC and manufacturer guidelines for all speed enforcement operations.
