Water Rescue (3715_15)
1)A copy of your forces health and safety policy with regards to water rescues (i.e the relevant part of a training manual or similar which sets out what risk assessments need to be carried out, who they should be carried out by etc. in the event of your officers having to rescue people or animals from water)
I am writing to inform you that we have searched our records and the information you requested is not held by West Midlands Police.
Rescue from water is the remit of West Midlands Fire Service and on occasions West Midlands Ambulance Service (there are also some volunteer organisations that have a water rescue capability in times of flood etc which operate within our area).
The decision to enter water to save life would be an individual one based on threat & risk, the decision making model and a dynamic risk assessment by the officer concerned.
