Please could you provide information on the number of outstanding FTA warrants there are in the West Midlands force area.
Ideally this data will include the offence for which the suspect was charged, the name of the suspect and the date on which the warrant was issued.
Please find enclosed our response.
Please note that Police forces in the United Kingdom are routinely required to record and provide statistical data. However, the systems used for recording these data are not generic, nor are the procedures used in capturing data common to all police forces.
For this reason the information that you have requested is not available in a readily retrievable format. In relation to the amount of FTA warrants and the offence for which the suspect was charged. This is due to various information being held on multiple systems and in order for us to locate and retrieve this information would require a cross reference of these systems in order for us to comply fully with your request. To complete such a task would be disproportionally burdensome to locate and cross reference any recorded information held.
Therefore the cost of providing you with the information is above the amount to which we are legally required to respond i.e. the cost of locating and retrieving the information exceeds the ‘appropriate level’ as stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit) Regulations 2004.
In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts as a Refusal Notice for this part of the request and if one part of a request exceeds the fees limit then S12 of the Act applies to the whole request
However, In accordance with Section 16 of the Act I have a duty to provide advice and assistance in relation to your request and can provide information in relation to the number of Live warrants based on date creation within our Custody system as at 20/01/ 20 – 2280.
