This is a freedom of information request under the Freedom of Information Act. This request is based around information available on the inter-net. The information I am requesting is over 30 years old. I am also placing similar requests with other Public Authorities to build up an accurate picture.
The information requested relates to your dedicated Special Branch Officers at Birmingham Airport and PACE 1984. Information on the inter-net details that the Met Police had responsibility for training Special Branch Ports Officers.
My request relates to the following, and can you confirm the following.
That in 1984 prior to PACE coming into force that your Special Branch Ports Officers undertook training courses, provided by the Met Police in London in relation to PACE.
That the training courses provided by the Met Police In London ran from Monday mornings, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and half day Fridays.
Given the distance from Birmingham to London, confirm that you Special Branch Ports Officers flew down to London on Sundays and flew back on Friday afternoons.
Confirm that your Special Branch Ports Officers stayed in hotel accommodation, or similar, on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Regarding the accommodation, did West Midlands Police or the Met Police pay for it, or perhaps the Home Office.
I am writing to inform you that we have searched our records in Learning and Development, Finance and the Counter Terrorism Unit and the information you requested is not held by West Midlands Police. Due to the amount of time that has passed any records that were held would no longer be available.
