Suspect Apprehension (1521_15)
We require a copy of the policy and/or procedure for the apprehension of suspects specific to West Midlands Police, to include the apprehension of suspects in control of a motor vehicle, whether that vehicle is parked or moving. We do not require a copy of your policy on police pursuits unless there are specific provisions dealing with the apprehension of a suspect in a moving vehicle when the apprehending officer is on foot.
Please could you provide us with a copy of the relevant policy and/or procedure and/or training manual relevant to this request.
I am writing to inform you that we have contacted our Learning and Development and our Policy Departments and the information you requested is not held by West Midlands Police.
However the safe stopping of a vehicle is covered in recruit training, but that is to conduct a road side check, rather than the specific question regarding extraction. Within our current Personal Safety Training programmes we do not teach any vehicle extraction skills.
