Between 2010 -14 inclusive have you seen an increase in KSIs (Killed, Seriously injured) /accidents at approaches to junctions, crossings and roundabouts (please indicate the change as a percentage using 2010 figures as a baseline).
The attached provides RTC KSIs between 01 January 2010 and 31 December 2014 for the ‘Junction Location of Vehicle’
Table 1 is based on the following criteria and is the closest data held relevant to your request.
Table: 1 – Junction Location of Vehicle
1 – Approaching junction or waiting/parked at junction approach.
4 – Entering roundabout.
6 – Entering main road
7 – Entering from slip road
Please note there is not a field that specifies if a vehicle is approaching pedestrian crossing facilities. Therefore I have provided numbers of RTC’s at pedestrian crossing facilities as follows:
Table 2 Pedestrian Crossing – Human Control
Table 3 Pedestrian Crossing – Physical Facilities
Every effort is made to ensure that the figures presented are accurate and complete. However, it is important to note that these data have been extracted from a number of data sources used by forces for police purposes. The detail collected to respond specifically to your request is subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large scale recording system. As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes and their inevitable limitations are taken into account when interpreting those data.
figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of relevance of data to your request, but you should be aware that the collation of figures for ad hoc requests may have limitations and this should be taken into account when those data are used.
If you decide to write an article / use the enclosed data we would ask you to take into consideration the factors highlighted in this document so as to not mislead members of the public or official bodies, or misrepresent the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.
