Request / Response

1. How many complaints of racism has your force received by (a) an alleged victim (b) a fellow police officer, or (c) a third party in respect of racist comments or behaviour by a member of your force? Please give figures for each of the last two years 2011/12 and 2012/13.
a) = 42 complaint cases
b) = 8 conduct cases
c) This would be recorded as a complaint as part of (a) above
a) = 77 complaint cases
b) 8 conduct cases

2. How many officers have been disciplined as a result of complaints of racism and what was the result of that disciplinary action?
2011/12 = 4 (3 written warnings, 1 management advice)
2012/13 = 1 written warning

3. In relation to the last five incidents which fell within the remit of Q2 please state any words or phrases that were deemed to have been racist.

The actual words and phrases used are exempt by virtue of S44 Prohibitions on Disclosure.
