Psychic Use (5217_14)
The number of times in the past five years that the force has used a psychic or clairvoyant to help with an investigation. In each instance, please also provide the person’s name, the investigation they helped, what help they provided, how much they were paid and the result of their help (ie. solved the crime).
The use of psychics within an investigation is not recorded separately. Therefore the only way to identify any relevant information would be to undertake a manual search of each individual crime file/case. Such a search would exceed the appropriate limit. This means that the cost of providing all of the requested information, and therefore compliance with your request, is above the amount to which we are legally required to respond.
The cost of compliance with your request is above the amount to which we are legally required to respond, i.e. the cost of locating and retrieving the information would exceed the appropriate costs limit under section 12 of the Freedom of information Act 2000. For West Midlands Police, the appropriate limit is set at £450, as prescribed by the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004, S.I. 3244. In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts as a refusal notice.
