Police Vehicle Accidents (1993/20)

Request

  1.  How many road vehicles (of all types, such as vans and patrol cars) did West Midlands Police operate, as of 31 December 2019?
  2. How many road accidents (crashes, scrapes and other damage) did all these vehicles incur during 2019?
  3. What was the value of the damage from all these accidents (in repairs, insurance claims and value of written-off vehicles)?

Response

  1. How many road vehicles (of all types, such as vans and patrol cars) did West Midlands Police operate, as of 31 December 2019 = 1562
  2. How many road accidents (crashes, scrapes and other damage) did all these vehicles incur during 2019? = 868
  3. What was the value of the damage from all these accidents (in repairs, insurance claims and value of written-off vehicles)? = All RTC claims cost £1,709,174. Please note that this includes estimated damage for those not repaired eg. Damage was minor and hence repair not necessary, or the repair is on-going, estimated repairs due to write off and write off value. It also includes costs that were likely to be claimed or in the process of being claimed from a 3rd party. Windscreens are also included even if not damaged through RTC along with criminal damage to vehicles that resulted in a repair.
