Our data are not organised in such a way as to allow us to provide this information within the appropriate (cost) limit within the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act (see ‘Reason for Decision’ below).

Although excess cost removes the force’s obligations under the Freedom of Information Act, as a gesture of goodwill I have supplied information, relative to your request, retrieved before it was realised that the fees limit would be exceeded (see enclosed). I trust this is helpful, but it does not affect our legal right to rely on the fees regulations for the remainder of the request.

Q2: How many mis-spaced number plate offences were recorded within the years 2018 / 2019 / 2020 (Up until March 2020)?

Please note that “not conforming to registration mark regulations”, covers not only spacing but could be the font used, colour etc.  In order to isolate only the mis-spaced offences would exceed cost as each record would need to be evaluated.

The data in Q4 details the fines issued.  Fines are paid to HMCTS (Her Majesties Courts), we facilitate the perpetrator / fine going to court.  However, when at Court they may have had the fine rescinded or indeed increased.  We do not have access to this information as it is data held by the Courts.
