Number of Microchip scanners (694A/20)
Request
The total number of microchip scanners (used to scan animals) that are currently within your police force’s possession.
Response
We assume that your request relates to pet scanners, therefore our below response is based on this assumption.
Our data are not organised in such a way as to allow us to provide this information within the appropriate (cost) limit within the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act (see ‘Reason for Decision’ below).
I am unable to suggest any practical way in which your request may be modified in order to satisfy your query or bring it within the 18 hours stipulated by the Regulations. I am however willing to consider any refinements that you are able to make to your request, in accordance with Section 16 of the Freedom of Information Act. If you would like to look into refining your request please contact me.
REASON FOR DECISION
Please note that researching each individual case would exceed the appropriate limit (FOIA, s.12). Various charities supply scanners to local Neighbourhood Teams, however this information is not centrally recorded. Therefore in order to try and determine this information, we would need to conduct manual searches within every Neighbourhood Team across the whole force area. Such a search would exceed the appropriate limit (FOIA, s.12).
