Subject: Request for information regarding police officers’ misconduct while on duty

1. Can you provide me with the number of officers, and their ranks, who have been found to have breached the force’s Standards of Professional Conduct by engaging in sex acts while on duty.

In each case, can you supply a single line of explanatory text in relation to each officer’s breach.

2. In relation to the above, what sanction was imposed on each of those officers?

In each case, can you provide a line of explanatory text in relation to each sanction imposed.

3. Of those found in breach, how many were also dealt with through the criminal court through current relevant legislation on misconduct in office by public officials?

The requested time frame for these figures is January 2014 to December 2014, inclusive.


Under section 21 of the Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you. I can confirm that there have been 2 cases relevant to your request, both of which are detailed within the Misconduct Outcomes section of the West Midlands Police Website:

07 April 2014 – Officer entered into an inappropriate relationship with a member of the public….

22 September 2014 – While on duty an officer attended the home address of a female….

The rank of the officer in each case was Constable and neither case was dealt with through a criminal court.
