Firearms Applications(9492_17)

Request

Could you please advise whether your licensing authority offers non-statutory forms for firearm and shotgun applications?

If non-statutory forms are used;

  1. a) What aspect of the application does the form relate to (e.g. club membership, land permission)?
  2. b) Is failure to submit a completed non-statutory form cause an application to be refused or returned?

Response

  1. What aspect of the application does the form relate to (e.g. club membership, land permission)?

There two forms are used to satisfy the ‘good reason’ criteria when processing an application for a firearm certificate, one is a Land Approval Form and the other is a Club Membership Form.  No additional form is used when processing a shotgun application.

  1. Is failure to submit a completed non-statutory form cause an application to be refused or returned?

No (as it is non-statutory), however the form(s) has/have been designed for the collection of all relevant information required to process a firearm application, not a shotgun application.  Failure to complete a form may hinder the speed at which the application is processed.
