The information I am looking for is the number of cases of FGM reported to yourselves in 2017 and the number of arrests and prosecutions made as a result of the information having been passed to you. So that is two pieces of information I’m looking for.
1 – the number of cases of FGM reported to you (or that you have been made aware of) in Birmingham/West Mids area via any means and from any source – parent, neighbour, NHS, social services, member of the public, etc. (2017)
2 – the number of arrests made in relation to FGM in Birmingham/West Mids area. (2017)
The FGM can have occurred in UK or the person might have been taken abroad for the procedure to have been done and then returned to the UK. I would still consider it an assault on a UK resident if the cutting was done abroad and the child returned to the UK.
