Custody Cameras (1751_19)

Request

I am emailing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on which cameras/devices each of the West Midlands custody suits use, to capture the custody images of a suspects?

I am referring to the camera device used to capture a image of a person arrested. This photo is generally captured when the biometric samples are taken such a fingerprint or DNA sample.

Examples of camera devices could include; Viper, Promat or Canon camera

Response

West Midlands Police currently use either Canon HV30 or HV40 cameras (i.e. the model varies from image capture booth to image capture booth, but perform exactly the same functions). The cameras capture a still image of each suspect that is subsequently retained in our custody database.
