Child Abuse Training (5002_14)
I would like information about how much it’s costing to train every West Midlands Police Officer in child safety/abuse as recommended in the review into the death of Daniel Pelka?
There has been one external course provided in relation to the new recommendations and this has cost the force £33,600. In addition to this for this external course there were costs of the time of 2 WMP trainers for 20 days and guest speakers from within the force, these costs are met from existing force budgets.
There have been other internally run courses by the learning and development department, some of which have been trainer led and some national e-learning packages. This is by trainers that are employed directly by the force and met by the existing training budgets.
Additionally, there would be a resource cost to the force of the time spent by the officers and staff undertaking the various courses, but this would not be an additional financial cost to the force.
