Coronavirus (COVID-19)

How we are working to keep our FOI Requests running during COVID-19

BBC Report (4362/16)

Was the initial, mainly true, BBC report of the IPCC investigation into the accidental discharge of a firearm on 21st February, produced as a result of a press release from a police press office, or from an unknown source? Did the police press office contact WM Radio between 7am and 8am so that the 8am broadcast became significantly changed from the original report and,if so,or who made the contact from the press office and how was the contact made?

The only relevant data that could be held by West Midlands Police with respect to this request is our Press Log relating to this incident. This log shows that we received no calls from the media on this story nor made any calls to the media regarding it.

The only activity recorded is the release of the following web page at around 1pm on 22 February 2016.
