Coronavirus (COVID-19)

How we are working to keep our FOI Requests running during COVID-19

Antisemitism (1912_16)

For January 2014, February 2014 and March 2014, we would be grateful if you could search for non-criminal incidents and crimes using the following keywords:

  1. Jew/Jews/Jewish/Judaism
  2. Semite/Semitic/Semitism
  3. Antisemite/Antisemitic/Antisemitism
  4. Yid/Yids/Yiddo/Yiddish

Please advise which keywords you were able to include, and for the totality of your search, please advise separately for January 2014, February 2014 and March 2014:

The total number of non-criminal incidents recorded;

The total number of crimes recorded;

The total number of crimes involving violence against the person that were recorded; and

The total number of crimes that resulted in charges being brought.

Following receipt of your request, a search of both our Incident and Crime recording systems was conducted specifying ALL of the keywords above.

The results are as follows:

Crimes = No information held

Incidents = 2 (March 2014)

Every effort is made to ensure that the figures presented are accurate and complete. However, it is important to note that these data have been extracted from a number of data sources used by forces for police purposes. The detail collected to respond specifically to your request is subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large scale recording system. As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes and their inevitable limitations are taken into account when interpreting those data.

The figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of relevance of data to your request, but you should be aware that the collation of figures for ad hoc requests may have limitations and this should be taken into account when those data are used.

If you decide to write an article / use the enclosed data we would ask you to take into consideration the factors highlighted in this document so as to not mislead members of the public or official bodies, or misrepresent the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.
