How we are working to keep our FOI Requests running during COVID-19

Anti-Semitic Hate Crime (5428_14)

I am writing with a Freedom of Information request regarding anti-Semitic hate crime, following anecdotal reports it has increased across the UK following the Gaza-Israel conflict.

1. Please could you tell me if and how the force records anti-Semitic hate crime?

2. How many incidents were recorded in June, July and August 2014?

3. How many incidents were recorded in March, April and May 2014?

4. Could you please also tell me the total number of incidents recorded for each year between 2010 and 2013?

5. And the total number of incidents recorded in 2004?

6. For each time period is it possible to have a rough break down of the type of incidents, e.g. five common assaults, two harassments?

7. If possible can you also say whether police action was taken?

Please find attached (5428_attachment_01.pdf).

Every effort is made to ensure that the figures presented are accurate and complete. However, it is important to note that these data have been extracted from a number of data sources used by forces for police purposes. The detail collected to respond specifically to your request is subject to the inaccuracies inherent in any large scale recording system. As a consequence, care should be taken to ensure data collection processes and their inevitable limitations are taken into account when interpreting those data.

The figures provided therefore are our best interpretation of relevance of data to your request, but you should be aware that the collation of figures for ad hoc requests may have limitations and this should be taken into account when those data are used.

If you decide to write an article / use the enclosed data we would ask you to take into consideration the factors highlighted in this document so as to not mislead members of the public or official bodies, or misrepresent the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.
