I’d like to request some information under the Freedom of Information Act.
Please provide details of the number of offences (listed below) of animal cruelty – i.e. animals being abused or killed – with a break-down of each year and month for the past five calendar years (1 January to 31 December) and the type of animal(s) involved as the victim of the crime.

I am writing to inform you that we have searched our records and the information you requested is not held by West Midlands Police.
The majority of the categories listed in your request are non-recordable summary offences which are not available on our systems.
With regard to “Animal Cruelty” the below categories are contained on our systems:

However searches on all of these areas have brought back no data.
Most of these offences are either dealt with by the Local Authority or RSPCA, who are the lead in the West Midlands for animal Cruelty offences. Anything that we come across is referred to the RSPCA who then lead on the investigation with our support if needed.
Therefore we are unable to provide any data to respond to this request.
