Request

Question 1 – The total of conduct / complaint cases which contain details of on duty speeding matters with the outcome. Miscellaneous cases which contain speeding issues with the outcome that our Professional Standards department have been made aware of.

 Question 2 – The total of officers charged with motoring type offences that our Professional Standards department have been made aware of

Question 3 – What guidance exists for officers who stop or reprimand colleagues for motoring offences, both in work and out of work, to prevent unduly lenient treatment?

For question 4 – What is the policy for police officers (not on blue lights) who are caught by speed cameras and ATS cameras?

Question 5 what is the procedure for complaints to be raised concerning any unduly lenient treatment of police officers and staff, specifically with regard to motoring offences?

 Question 6  what is your force’s procedure for allowing the public to report officers for motoring offences, and what are the procedures for bringing charges or issuing FPNs in such circumstances? Q

Question 7 Do you use police vehicle in-cab footage, dash cams or telematics to monitor officers’ driving, and to identify offending by officers?

Question 8  We may conduct a word search of our Professional Standards department database using the keyword “lenient “ and provide the total of complaints found .

Question 9 and 10 – We may provide a total of how many accidents (minor, and separately KSI), have occurred with police officers driving in the course of their duties – excepting tactical stops and other deliberate operational manoeuvres?

Response

We can confirm that relevant information is held by West Midlands Police. However, while the majority of the information is attached to this email I am afraid that I am not required to release all of the information requested. Please find attached a redacted document in relation to the Policy for Question 3.
