This is a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act.

Please provide answers to the following:

  1. How many times did a member of your force authorise the use of the powers under section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 in each month since, and including, March 2018?
  2. How many times did your officers carry out a stop and search authorised under section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 in each month since, and including, March 2018? Please break this down by age group, ethnicity and outcome.
  3. How many times did your officers carry out a stop and search under powers other than section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 each month since, and including, March 2018? Please break this down by age group, ethnicity and outcome.
  4. How many times did your officers carry out a stop and search while any officer present was armed with a firearm in each month since, and including, March 2018?
  5. How many times did a stop and search carried out by your offices result in the use of force in each month since, and including, March 2018?

Please provide the following documentation:

  1. Any equality impact assessments conducted regarding lower thresholds for authorising the use of powers under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, in advance of your force’s participation a trial of lowered thresholds announced by the Home Secretary on 31 March 2019.
  2. Any internal policy documents or briefings related to the use of stop and search under Section 60 at any point in 2019.
