Request

I am writing to request the following information concerning Police Complaints that your police force submitted to the IPCC:

  • Localised breakdown of the West Midlands statistics included in ‘IPCC Research and Statistics Series: Paper 25, Police Complaints: statistics for England and Wales 2011/12’.

I wish to obtain specific statistics of Coventry Local Policing Unit as a whole in the following areas (for 2011/12):

  • Number of complaints recorded (IPCC Paper 25 Table 4)
  • Time taken to record complaints (IPCC Paper 25 Table 5)
  • Allegations (IPCC Paper 25 Table g)
  • Type of allegations (IPCC Paper 25 Table 7)
  • Allegations per 1,000 personnel (IPCC Paper 25 Table 8)
  • Means by which allegations were finalised (IPCC Paper 25 Table 9)
  • Time taken to finalise allegations (IPCC Paper 25 Table 10)
  • Outcome of allegations (IPCC Paper 25 Table 11a,b)
  • Time Taken to finalise complaint cases (IPCC Paper 25 Table 12)

Response

Please find below and attached our response.

  1. 104 complaints were recorded in the Coventry Local Policing Unit for the period 01/04/2011 – 31/03/2012 2011-2012
  2. In total it took 614 working days to record all complaints for the Coventry Local Policing Unit for the period 01/04/2011 – 31/03/2012
  3. 189 allegations were recorded in the Coventry Local Policing Unit for the period 01/04/2011 – 31/03/2012

  5. This information is not recorded, however as at 31/03/2012 Coventry Local Policing Unit employed 799.42 members of staff

  7. The time taken to finalise allegations for the Coventry Local Policing Unit for the period 01/04/2011 – 31/03/2012 totalled 9954 working days
