Payments to Informants (10741_16)

Request

I would like to request the following information:

1. What is the total spent each year on police informants (covert human intelligence sources) in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016?

2. Could you please provide your policy and process on how informants are compensated? For example, does an arrest have to be made or specific intelligence provided? Who decides how much money an informant should be paid and what procedure must be followed for this process?

Please let me know if you have any further questions.
