I would like to know how many people are employed by the west midlands police that are from an arab/middle eastern background?

Response

To monitor the ethnicity of employees, the West Midlands Police (WMP) use the 16 + 1 self defined ethnicity codes as recommended by the Association of Chief Police Officers (now National Police Chiefs’ Council). Arab/ Middle Eastern is not an ethnicity category so we are unable to provide this information for the West Midlands Police force as a whole. However, as of the February 2015 Staffing Dynamics and Equalities report, one member of police staff has self identified as Other – Arab. However, previous to this any Arab/ Middle Eastern employees may have classified themselves under a different category, or chosen not to state their ethnicity.

To attract more Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) employees WMP are involved in positive action awareness initiatives in those communities, such as recruitment fairs and cultural events. Please see the following link for more information:
