Internet involved crimes (7886/16)

Request

* Please disclose the number of reported crimes given an “online” flag since April 2015. (My understanding is that an “online” flag is mandatory but if it is a “cyber” flag please disclose these)
* Please provide a breakdown showing the type of crime reported which was given an “online” flag since April 2015. For example the HO offence category description.
* Where known and if within the cost limit, please provide the outcome of the report – suspect charged, caution etc.
* If within the cost limits, please disclose the total number of reported crimes given an “online” (or “cyber”) flag between March 31, 2014, to March 31, 2015.

Response

1) Please disclose the number of reported crimes given an “online” flag since April 2015. (My understanding is that an “online” flag is mandatory but if it is a “cyber” flag please disclose these)

We have a marker ‘Internet Involved’. This is used where a sexual, physical or emotional crime has been committed or intended to be committed where the internet is used in the course of the commission of the offence.

The total number of these crimes since 01 April 2015 is 1,481.

2) Please provide a breakdown showing the type of crime reported which was given an “online” flag since April 2015. For example the HO offence category description.

See TABLE 1 attached.

3) Where known and if within the cost limit, please provide the outcome of the report – suspect charged, caution etc.

4) If within the cost limits, please disclose the total number of reported crimes given an “online” (or “cyber”) flag between March 31, 2014, to March 31, 2015.

We have a marker ‘Internet Involved’. This is used where a sexual, physical or emotional crime has been committed or intended to be committed where the internet is used in the course of the commission of the offence.

The total number of these crimes between 01 April 2014 and 31 March 2015 is 453.
