Fraud in Schools (1769_15)

Request

I would like to know how many times police have been called out to schools in relation to reports of fraud.

Specifically:

1) Please can you include the number of times an allegation of fraud has been reported to police from a school/ on school premises in the last three financial years (2014-15, 2013-14, 2012-13). Please lay out in a table.

2) In a separate table, for each instance of reported fraud please include a description of what the alleged fraud was (to also include the monetary value of the alleged fraud).

3) To be included in table 2, next to each entry please also include the outcome of that reported fraud.

Response

1) Please can you include the number of times an allegation of fraud has been reported to police from a school/ on school premises in the last three financial years (2014-15, 2013-14, 2012-13). Please lay out in a table.

There were 3 Fraud offences in 2012-13. From 2013/14 onwards WMP are no longer required to record fraud offences and this is now done nationally at Action Fraud.

2) In a separate table, for each instance of reported fraud please include a description of what the alleged fraud was (to also include the monetary value of the alleged fraud).

Recorded Offence 2012/13 Value (£) Outcome
Fraud by abuse of position 1,664.00 Charge
Fraud by false representation – Other Fraud N/A Charge
Cause computer function with intent to gain access N/A Charge

3) To be included in table 2, next to each entry please also include the outcome of that reported fraud.

As above
