Please provide the information described below concerning details of the number and categories of permits issued under section 7 of the 1968 Firearms Act:
For each of the last 20 years, please provide the number of permits granted under this section by the Chief Constable of West Midlands Police to individuals who are NOT employees of the force or other domestic law enforcement agencies (for example other police forces, NCA, HMRC).
Please list the categories or grounds for which the permit has been granted and the numbers within each category. For example, close protection personnel of visiting or resident VIPs/heads of state; sales personnel for weapon manufacturers; personal protection for other persons having possible grounds for having such a permit.
Finally, please detail the type of weapons and ammunition authorised by these permits. To be clear, this means the range of weaponry across all permits, for example the numbers of pistols, carbines, automatic weapons, that would normally be classed as prohibited weapons under the relevant sections of the Firearms Act 1968.
I am writing to inform you that we have searched our records and the information you requested is not held by West Midlands Police. All matters appertaining to weapons being possessed by persons or agencies other than Crown agents, Police, Military etc are dealt with by the Home Office.
