Please could provide the following information for the calendar years 2016, 2017 and 2018:
1) The number of incidents involving drones reported to your force for each year
2) If it is within the time/cost limit set out by the Freedom of Information Act, a summary of each incident and the outcome of any investigation – i.e. no suspect identified; if suspect was arrested, whether they were charged, cautioned or no further action taken.
If part 2) is not within the time/cost limit set out by the Freedom of Information Act, please answer part 1) only.
Under section 21 of the Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you. The information you requested for 2016 – July 2018 is available on the following website.
Due to the increasing number or Drone reports, in order for us to search for information from July – December 2018 would exceed the amount to which we are legally required to respond, i.e. the cost of confirming or denying that the information is held would exceed the appropriate costs limit under section 12(2) of the FOI Act 2000. For West Midlands Police, the appropriate limit is set at £450, as prescribed by the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004, S.I. 3244.
