Subject: Community Safety Accreditation Scheme

1. How many organisations have been accredited in the scheme in the last five years? Please provide data from Jan 2009 – Dec 2013 (i.e. Figures for 2009 onwards from January to December.

2. At the present time which organisations are accredited by your constabulary?

3. Which powers have been granted to the above companies (those that are accredited at this point in time).

I can confirm that this information is held by West Midlands Police. However under section 21 of the Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you.

Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act places two duties on public authorities. Unless exemptions apply, the first duty at s1(1)(a) is to confirm or deny whether the information specified in a request is held. The second duty at s1(1)(b) is to disclose information that has been confirmed as being held. Where exemptions are relied upon section 17 of the Act requires that we provide the applicant with a notice which: a) states that fact b) specifies the exemption(s) in question and c) states (if that would not otherwise be apparent) why the exemption applies.
