Please provide all information held by West Midlands Police about the legal fees/court costs it incurred arguing the case against the resumption of the inquest for the victims of the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings – including costs of a QC attending court, and in preparing the case
Did this money come from the West Midlands Police force budget or another stream of funding; and if so, what was this?
As at 17 June 2016, Costs for Counsel concerning the Birmingham Pub Bombings are as follows (these costs are net):
2015/2016 – £3,675
2016/2017 – £21,609.40
I can confirm that this is paid from the West Midlands Police budget.
